Opinion: Tottenham player ratings from the 1-0 FA Cup defeat to Sheffield Utd

Tottenham are out of the FA Cup for another season, losing 1-0 to Sheffield United under the lights.

Let’s take a look at how the individual players got on:

Fraser Forster – 4 – Didn’t have too much to do but will likely be frustrated with the goal as he got stuck on his back foot.

Pedro Porro – 4 – A better performance than the Leicester defeat but still failed to impress at either end. He was skipped past way too easily for the goal.

Davinson Sanchez – 3 – Always has a slip or mistake in him. Almost gave Sheffield a golden attack with a mistake on the ball, and was so weak defending his own box for the goal.

Eric Dier – 4 – The last man on the scene for the Sheffield goal. It shouldn’t have got that far but Dier will be annoyed he didn’t block it. Needed more from him on the ball tonight too.

Ben Davies – 4 – Most of the trouble came down the other side but Davies was hardly his normal self on the ball this evening. Needed much more from him at both ends.

Ivan Perisic – 4 – A couple of nice crosses throughout the game but Perisic is lacking consistency and energy at the moment. Never seems to look a constant threat across 90 minutes, while leaving a lot to be desired defensively.

Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg – 3 – Looked so fatigued tonight. Almost gifted a couple of goals with two back passes and his defending was so half-hearted for the goal.

Pape Matar Sarr – 4 – Mopped up well at times but didn’t have the same drive and progressive passing we have seen from him recently. Hard to judge someone so young too harshly though.

Lucas Moura – 5 – The one bright spark up front for Spurs. Beat numerous players in the final third, but it never quite came to anything. End product is always a question but perhaps if the other forwards had his energy, something would have happened tonight.

Richarlison – 3 – So disappointing from the Brazilian in his favoured number 9 role. Offered absolutely nothing beyond the odd swing at the ball.

Heung-min Son – 3 – After two games off the bench, this was Sonny’s big chance to earn his spot back and he could not have been less involved in the game. Nothing quite seemed to work for the winger again tonight.

Subs:

Harry Kane – 3 – Failed to make much of an impact and missed a decent chance at the end.

Dejan Kulusevski – 3 – Had no impact off the bench.

Oliver Skipp – 4 – Knocked the ball about pretty well but hard to change things from defensive midfield.

Arnaut Danjuma – 3 – Tried to take people on but ended up giving the ball away too much.
