Opinion: Tottenham player ratings from the 1-0 win over Burnley

Tottenham managed to see out a tightly-fought 1-0 victory over Burnley at Turf Moor this evening courtesy of another Harry Kane assist and Heung-min Son goal.

Let’s take a look at how the individual players got on:

Hugo Lloris – 8 – Made a few smart stops but it was his aerial dominance that was so impressive, coming and collecting multiple corners late on in the game.

Matt Doherty – 4.5 – A couple of nice crosses into the box but Doherty was wasteful on the ball tonight and got caught out a couple of times in defence.

Toby Alderweireld – 7 – Considering he isn’t the biggest defender, he coped pretty well with the bombardment of long balls, especially considering that early head injury.

Eric Dier – 5 – As normal, coped very well in the air but lets himself down on the ball and with his marking at set-pieces. Lucky not to be at fault for a goal tonight.

Ben Davies – 4.5 – Much like Doherty on the other side, Ben Davies was wasteful in possession and a little suspect defensively.

Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg – 6 – A pretty decent all-round display from Hojbjerg. Won the ball well and passed it off efficiently.

Moussa Sissoko – 6 – The Frenchman covered the channels really well tonight, especially when Doherty pushed up the pitch. An underrated squad player.

Tanguy Ndombele – 7.5 – Played really well on and off the ball tonight. The only issue was that Spurs kept bypassing him with long balls.

Heung-min Son – 8 – A pretty quiet night in general but has to be marked up for that winner with a lovely headed finish.

Harry Kane – 9 – Also had a quieter night than usual, but came up with the assist and a goal-line clearance in the second half to haul Spurs over the finish line.

Lucas Moura – 4 – Barely touched the ball.

Substitutes:

Erik Lamela – 6 – He added a bit more urgency when coming off the bench in the second half. Spurs needed that energy. He also took the corner that led to the goal.

Giovani Lo Celso – 5 – Nice to see him back out there and the Argentine looked comfortable in possession.

Joe Rodon – N/A – Nice to see him get his debut, albeit brief.
