Opinion: Tottenham player ratings from the 1-1 draw against Burnley

Tottenham Hotspur could only manage a point against Burnley in the Premier League today, as they risk losing more ground on the likes of Chelsea and Man United.

Let’s take a look at how the players performed at Turf Moor:

Hugo Lloris – 3

His blunder led to the goal that set the tone and he looked weak all day when coming to claim the ball in set pieces.

Jan Vertonghen – 5

Tottenham’s best defender going forward. Unfortunately, his crosses were either poor or no one got into the box for him.

Toby Alderweireld – 6

Looked shaky at times today but we have to give him an extra point for saving Spurs right at the end of the match with his block.

Davinson Sanchez – 1

The Colombian has one of those days every now and then and today was certainly one of them. Everything he touched turned to pressure on the back line.

Eric Dier – 7

An extra point for that incredible last-ditch challenge. Apart from that, Dier actually had a rather good game in midfield in the second half.

Japhet Tanganga – 4

Struggled defensively today and didn’t really offer anything going forward, especially considering he was at wing-back.

Oliver Skipp – 6

Really assured on the ball and every pass seems to be first time and on target. He also always looks to help out defensively.

Tanguy Ndombele – 2

Lazy in his defensive duties and seems to be all style no substance on the ball at the moment.

Erik Lamela – 5

We gave him an extra point for winning the penalty. Lamela found himself in some amazing positions today, but almost always made the wrong decision.

Dele Alli – 7

His best game in a good while and a nice penalty. Hopefully, this can be the start of something better for the forward.

Steven Bergwijn – 6

Ran his socks off, and considering his efforts against Norwich, it’s a wonder he had enough in the tank.

Substitutes –

Giovani Lo Celso – 9

Did everything but curl that left-footed shot into the top corner for the winner.

Lucas Moura – 6.5

Looked really lively after coming on, won a load of free-kicks, and constantly caused problems.

Serge Aurier – 5

Put in a nice ball to create a chance for Alli late on.
