Opinion: Tottenham player ratings from the 2-0 win over West Ham

Tottenham Hotspur got back to winning ways this evening with a 2-0 win over West Ham. Let’s take a look at how the individual players got on:

Fraser Forster – 6 – Made one important save from Bowen at 2-0 to keep Spurs comfortable and that was really the extent of his work today.

Emerson Royal – 8.5 – Isn’t it always the way? Porro comes in and Emerson starts playing his best football. Solid at the back and a consistent driving force today, took that goal ever so well.

Cristian Romero – 8 – Much more like a Romero performance. Aggressive and tough in the challenge, while also underlapping and pressing high at times. Such a quality player at his best.

Eric Dier – 7.5 – Solid as a rock in the centre of defence today. Consistency has been Dier’s problem this season but singular performances like this have been impressive. Gobbled up everything that came his way.

Clement Lenglet – 6.5 – Gave the ball away a couple of times when passing out from the back and didn’t fill me with as much confidence as the other two, but by no means a poor performance. Gives you something different in that three.

Ben Davies – 8 – Solid when tracking back and a constant outlet going forward. Closer to Vertonghen at LWB than a Perisic, but sometimes that slower, more methodical play can pay off. Did so well to break free and assist Emerson.

Oliver Skipp – 7.5 – Battled so well in there today. Can be a little untidy on the ball at times but off the ball he gives you so much. Covered every blade of grass today and turned the ball over time and time again, even on a yellow card.

Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg – 7.5 – Great ball through to Davies for the goal. He is that calm and experienced head in midfield with our injuries at the moment. Steady and solid performance from the midfield general today.

Richarlison – 6.5 – Didn’t quite happen for him today but the one thing he always gives you is 100% effort. Unlucky not to win a penalty. I liked seeing him play number 9 with Kane in the pocket at times.

Harry Kane – 7.5 – A tricky game for him today as Spurs needed him to do a lot with a little. Actually held the ball up well and brought others into play. When things opened up in the second half, he started pulling the strings more. Great assist too.

Dejan Kulusevski – 7 – Didn’t look himself in the first 45, as has been the case of late. But Deki seemed to grow in confidence as the game went on and really took the game to West Ham in the second half. He also offers so much with his non-stop press off the ball.

Subs:

Heung-min Son – 7.5 – Came on and caused plenty of problems on the break. We finally saw that Kane to Son link up again for a well-taken goal. The Spurs winger really needed that.

Ivan Perisic – N/A – Definitely left his mark on the game, or at least the West Ham players.

Pape Matar Sarr – N/A

Lucas Moura – N/A
