Opinion: Tottenham player ratings from the 2-1 win over Norwich City

Tottenham Hotspur recorded their first Premier League goals and first three points of 2020 last night as they defeated Norwich City 2-1 at home, but how did the individual players get on?

Hugo Lloris – 6

Can’t go higher and can’t go lower as he had very little to do. However, nearly saved the penalty, took the pressure off during a late corner with a nice claim and looked more vocal last night than usual.

Serge Aurier – 8.5

Another great game for the right-back. Seems to have really picked up his defensive game and also chipped in with yet another assist.

Toby Alderweireld – 5.5

Pretty poor game from the Belgian. His clips forward were aimless at times and he struggled in the air against Pukki a few times.

Jan Vertonghen – 5

Gave the players far too much room on the left side and struggled with the pace of the game.

Ryan Sessegnon – 3

It’s early in his Spurs career and he is allowed a few stinkers, but last night was definitely one of them. Too many mistakes, including the penalty that almost cost Spurs.

Harry Winks – 8.5

Played that solo holding role again superbly, covering the ground of two. Won the ball over and over again, before starting attacks. His performance was highlighted by how much Dier struggled to do the same role.

Giovani Lo Celso – 9.5

What a game from the Argentine. Looks to be Eriksen’s natural successor and is growing into the league with each and every match.

Dele Alli – 6.5

He gets a boost for the goal and assist but his general play, final ball, and first touch were awful last night.

Erik Lamela – 5

A poor game from the Argentine. Gave the ball away far too much.

Heung Min Son – 6

Scored the winner but was pretty irrelevant for most of the match.

Lucas Moura – 6

Completely isolated up there, being asked to play the role of a 6ft 3 striker when he simply is not one.

Substitutes:

Eric Dier – 3 – This guy is simply not up to the pace of the Premier League anymore.

Christian Eriksen – 4 – Passes were wayward after coming on.

Gedson Fernandes – 5 – Not much of a chance to do too much, but looks confident on the ball.
