Opinion: Tottenham player ratings from the 3-0 win over LASK in the Europa League

Tottenham Hotspur managed to hold onto their lead tonight and record a victory against LASK in the Europa League to get the taste of West Ham out their mouths.

As the Lilywhites chalked up their first three group stage points, let’s take a look at how the individual players got on:

Joe Hart – 7 – Commanding and confident throughout the game, coming out to collect crosses, swiftly picking out his teammates, and barking orders to the defence.

Matt Doherty – 6 – Some nice initial link-up play with Gareth Bale but drifted out of the game a little after the 30-minute mark. Bits and pieces of nice play.

Davinson Sanchez – 5 – Perhaps lucky not to give away a penalty, Sanchez looked a little rocky at times but the clean sheet will do his confidence some good.

Ben Davies – 7 – Considering he was out of position, Davies played extremely well. He was mature in his reading of the game and class on the ball. Even created the first goal.

Sergio Reguilon – 7 – Always a positive attacking outlet on the left-hand-side and isn’t afraid to get suck in defensively. My only worry is that Real Madrid may want him back.

Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg – 7.5 – Broke up play really well, got stuck in, and knocked the ball around well. The blood-soaked bandage on the head told you all you needed to know.

Harry Winks – 4 – Gave away way too many needless fouls in the final third and wasn’t as positive as others on the ball either. He needs to up his game if he wants his place.

Erik Lamela – 5.5 – A classic Lamela performance. Loads of effort, direct attacking, sharp creativity, then he holds onto it for too long and misses the ideal final pass.

Lucas Moura – 7.5 – Looked nice and bright on the wing and was full of direct pace as usual. Opened the scoring and looked dangerous throughout.

Carlos Vinicius – 8 – I was very impressed with the debutant. He was full of drive and aggression, claimed an assist for Moura’s goal and another for Son’s.

Gareth Bale – 6.5 – You can tell that he’s easing his way back into regular football but there were a few nice bright sparks, including the cross that led to the own goal.

Substitutes:

Dele Alli – 6.5 – Nice to see him back out there and he should have claimed a goal to mark the occasion but for a great save from the keeper.

Moussa Sissoko – 5 – Came on and offered a lot of drive to the midfield. Definitely has a part to play in the squad this season.

Heung-min Son – 7 – Does what Sonny does, even in the form of a cameo. He added pace, direct attacking, and got his standard goal.

Giovani Lo Celso – N/A – Thankful to see him back from injury.

Jack Clarke – N/A – Interesting to see the youngster get some minutes.
