Opinion: Tottenham player ratings from the 3-1 win over Bournemouth

Tottenham Hotspur got back to winning ways this afternoon with a 3-1 win over an in-form Bournemouth side. Let’s take a look at how the individual players got on:

Tottenham player ratings vs Bournemouth

Guglielmo Vicario: Just gets on with his work and never waits for a pat on the back. Made a number of routine stops today and distributed really well. 7

Pedro PorroA rather quiet game for Porro. He didn’t occupy the pockets in the final third as much as normal, but by no means a poor performance. Some nice defensive work in there. 6.5

Emerson Royal: You can definitely tell he is a fullback playing at centre-back, but Royal gave a good account of himself today. Some great front-foot defending from the Brazilian. 6.5

Ben Davies: Probably Tottenham’s most consistent defender of late. Just gets his head down and gets on with his work at the back. A couple of important blocks and carried the ball out really well. 7

Destiny Udogie: So impressive today. Saved Tottenham three times by tracking back as the last man, but was also such a threat going forward down the left. What a player! 8

Rodrigo Bentancur: A late Christmas present saw Bentancur return to the XI far earlier than expected, and he created a goal within minutes. Superb on the ball as always. Got a little tired in the second half, which is to be expected. 7.5

Pape Matar Sarr: Such a shame that he went off injured but hopefully he is still able to go to AFCON. Took his goal so well and was a burst of energy on and off the ball on the right side. 8

Giovani Lo Celso: Passed his audition with flying colours. With Kulusevski and Maddison unavailable, he slipped into the creative role and walked away with two assists. Frantic at times, but offered a whole lot more than he risked. 8

RicharlisonWhat can you say about Richarlison? Missed a couple of great chances and struggled to hold the ball up at times, then popped up with a vital goal to put the game out of sight. Five goals in five games, hard to argue with that. 7

Heung-min Son: Not his best game, in truth. He wasted a couple of great chances to score the second goal. But Son is always able to spark something into life, whether it is sending Richarlison through on goal (albeit to miss) or by smashing one into the far corner to make it two-nil. 7

Brennan Johnson: A few bursts down the wing that looked extremely dangerous, just without the final ball to make Bournemouth pay. Then he finally got it right with a superb cross to Richarlison to make it three. Once he improves his consistency, Johnson will be a big player. 7

Substitutes:

Oliver Skipp: Came on for the injured Sarr. Was a little sloppy at times but got stuck in and made himself a nuisance. Played a lovely cross in to almost set up a goal for Son/Richy. 6

Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg: A classic Hojbjerg sub on to calm things down, and it often works a treat. 6

Eric Dier: N/A

Alejo Veliz: N/A

Bryan Gil: N/A
