Tottenham Hotspur were woeful tonight against Royal Antwerp in the Europa League, submitting to a 1-0 loss with a whimper in Belgium.
Let’s see how the individual players got on:
Hugo Lloris – 5 – Can’t blame him for the opening goal. Hugo was vocal throughout, no mistakes but nothing of note to shout about either.
Serge Aurier – 5.5 – One of the more energetic Spurs players across the match but there was so little going on ahead of him to pick out.
Davinson Sanchez – 2 – A woeful defensive performance from Sanchez. For all his recovery speed, the centre-back really struggles to read the game and remain consistent.
Ben Davies – 3 – Just like Sanchez but left-footed. Got caught out for the opening goal.
Sergio Reguilon – 5.5 – Looked full of energy without actually influencing the game too much. Needs to watch out that he doesn’t get caught out defensively.
Harry Winks – 4.5 – Some dodgy passes tonight and never really got a foothold in the game. A few nice moments but you have to be consistent in central midfield.
Giovani Lo Celso – 5.5 – Arguably the best offensive and defensive midfielder in the first half and likely only went off due to fitness/injury concerns.
Dele Alli – 5.5 – I actually thought that Dele was unlucky to be hooked at half-time. On the ball, he looked bright and created well. Off the ball, he just doesn’t work hard enough.
Steven Bergwijn – 5 – The only willing runner in the first half, but seemed to want to shoot on sight even when others were in a good position.
Gareth Bale – 4 – Jose said he was ready to fly but Bale barely made it out of a leisurely jog. I hope it is a fitness issue rather than Bale being too scared to put 100% in.
Carlos Vinicius – 5.5 – Really impressed with Vinicius’ hold up play and interlinking. He was very unlucky to bo hooked at half-time. Just needed better service.
Substitutes:
Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg – 5 – Came on and added more solidity, which was rather wasted as Spurs had to go all out in search of an equaliser.
Erik Lamela – 4.5 – Didn’t do a whole lot after coming on at half-time. Wasted some good chances.
Lucas Moura – 4.5 – All the energy and no end product.
Heung-min Son – 5.5 – Full of running in behind and had a couple of decent chances. If he had started the game, Spurs would have probably won.
Harry Kane – 5 – Wasn’t really given a clear chance after coming on, but certainly improved the build-ups.
