Opinion: Tottenham player ratings from the CL exit against AC Milan

Tottenham Hotspur are out of the Champions League in another trophyless season.

Let’s take a look at how the individual players got on:

Cristian Romero

Fraser Forster – 4 – Made a few decent stops throughout the 90 but nothing too major.

Emerson Royal – 3 – Lacked the drive we have seen from him in recent weeks and rarely went anywhere with the ball at his feet.

Cristian Romero – 2 – Often Spurs’ best defender but that isn’t much good when he then gets sent off.

Clement Lenglet – 3 – Not good enough on the ball and really struggled defensively as the game dragged on. Not of the quality Spurs need right now.

Ben Davies – 3 – Solid off the ball but left so much to be desired on the ball. Gave it away far too often and lacked any creativity from wide areas.

Ivan Perisic – 2 – Didn’t really add anything offensively or defensively. Seems to have lost his spark and energy, while his crosses are also not what they were at the start of the season.

Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg – 4 – Put in a decent shift but failed to get his head up in key moments. Spurs really miss Bentancur for that kind of stuff.

Oliver Skipp – 5 – I actually thought Skipp fought really well out there. Once again, he doesn’t offer that creativity that Spurs need, but he certainly did his job well.

Dejan Kulusevski – 3 – Got on the ball a whole lot but seems to have lost the spark he had last season. Overhit crosses and failed one-vs-one attempts this evening.

Harry Kane – 3 – Isolated up front for the first 45, then tried and failed to drop deep to influence the game in the second half. Had a decent headed chance at the end.

Heung-min Son – 3 – Not good enough with his back to goal and Spurs didn’t have the quality to find him over the top. Seems to have lost that spark and confidence that made him so great last season.

Subs:

Pedro Porro – 5 – By no means perfect but he added a certain zip down the right and at least tried to make things happen.

Richarlison – 3 – Really didn’t do enough when trying to hold the ball up and didn’t get in the game at all.

Davinson Sanchez – N/A – Just why?
