Opinion: Tottenham player ratings from the solid 3-1 win over Ludogorets

Tottenham put that defeat against Antwerp firmly behind them tonight, beating Ludogorets 3-1 in Bulgaria in their third group stage game.

Let’s take a look at how the players got on:

Joe Hart – 5 – Had little more to do than bark his usual orders. No chance with the goal.

Ben Davies – 5 – Sloppy on the ball at times but put in a decent shift.

Eric Dier – 5 – Had very little to do apart from winning uncontested headers. A couple of dodgy moments on the ball but hard to do anything about the goal itself.

Toby Alderweireld – 5.5 – Similar to Eric Dier but a bit better on the ball.

Matt Doherty – 5.5 – Had a good chance to score in the first half and seems to be slowly growing into his new right-back role.

Harry Winks – 4.5 – Looks as though Winks just needs to strip his game back to the basics. Keep the ball, occupy the space, and block the passing lanes. Learn from Hojbjerg.

Moussa Sissoko – 5 – A steady first half for Sissoko. Nothing great and nothing bad.

Giovani Lo Celso – 7 – Nice to see him starting again. You can still see that he is lacking full fitness, but he showed a few glimpses of his creative ability and tenacity. Nice goal too.

Lucas Moura – 6 – Looked very lively and remains a great option to filter in and out of the starting line-up. Always lacks the consistent end product, but a great squad player.

Harry Kane – 6 – Decent run out for the main man. He got his goal, although it could have been four or five if he’d had his shooting boots on tonight.

Gareth Bale – 7 – Definitely seeing improvements game by game from Bale. Got some good minutes under his belt and made plenty of chances.

Substitutes:

Carlos Vinicius – 4.5 – Not his best tonight. Needs to get himself in the box more and press a bit higher, but I’m sure that will come with time.

Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg – 7 – Just looks top class whenever he plays. Came on and instantly ran the show from the centre of midfield.

Heung-min Son – 6.5 – 17 seconds after coming on, Son claimed an assist. Just class.

Steven Bergwijn – 6.5 – Looked really bright and up for it after coming on. Unlucky not to get on the scoresheet but did his reputation no harm.

Tanguy Ndombele – 5.5 – Came on to get some more minutes under his belt and looked bright on the ball.
