Opinion: Tottenham player ratings from the strange win against Lokomotiv Plovdiv

That Europa League second round qualifier had it all! A late goal against the run of play for Plovdiv to take the lead, a penalty to Spurs to equalise, two red cards, and a last-gasp Ndombele winner.

Let’s take a look at how the individual players got on in Bulgaria this evening:

Hugo Lloris – 5 – Barely anything to do and can’t exactly be blamed for the goal as Plovdiv got a flick on at the near post.

Matt Doherty – 4 – A littlemore active on the right this evening but still looks a long way from his fittest and sharpest self.

Eric Dier – 3 – Was dominant in the air but dropped a bit of a stinker in terms of his quality on the ball tonight.

Davinson Sanchez – 4 – The better of the centre-backs but has to be marked down for allowing his man to score from the corner and giving us all a heart-attack.

Ben Davies – 5 – Actually played nicely going forwards tonight and put in some lovely crosses but he was also guilty for letting his man go at the aforementioned corner.

Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg – 4 – More of a player designed to thrive without the ball, Hojbjerg didn’t have too much to do this evening.

Moussa Sissoko – 5 – Was a decent driving force for Spurs but also a long way from his fittest condition you feel.

Giovani Lo Celso – 9 – The best player on the pitch by an absolute country mile. Lo Celso was keen to create, drive into space, and pass with real positive intension. What a player.

Heung-min Son – 5 – Played okay but was guilty of missing an absolute sitter to put his side ahead when it was 0-0. There wasn’t a whole lot of space in behind for Son today.

Steven Bergwijn – 5 – Played some nice football at times and certainly did himself no harm in terms of throwing his name into contention for the weekend.

Harry Kane – 6 – Marked up because of the penalty that Spurs so desperately needed, apart from that, Kane was a passenger tonight. Looked to be more of a fitness game for him.

Substitutes –

Tanguy Ndombele – 8 – Came on and looked really sharp, capping it off with a much-needed winner for the Lilywhites. Are we finally seeing the best of Ndombele?

Erik Lamela – 4 – Came on and closed the ball down well for the away side.

Lucas Moura – 6 – The fresh legs that Tottenham needed and he provided the assist for Ndombele’s winner.
