Opinion: Tottenham player ratings from the victory over Wolfsberger

Tottenham Hotspur are now through to the Europa League Round of 16 thanks to a comprehensive win over Wolfsberger across two legs this past week.

Let’s take a look at how the individual players got on tonight:

Joe Hart – 5 – Was tempted to give him an N/A as he was pretty much a spectator in this match.

Matt Doherty – 7.5 – Got forward well but needs to work on his final delivery. Not sure if he can claim the assist for Dele’s goal or not. Definitely some bright moments for him though.

Toby Alderweireld – 6 – Had very little to do throughout the 90 minutes but nothing to mark him down on either.

Eric Dier – 5.5 – Same as Toby, Dier’s job was essentially to mop up the odd long ball and recycle it to start the next attack. Perhaps lucky not to give away a foul as last man.

Ben Davies – 7 – Knocked the ball about pretty well and found some nice balls through the centre of the pitch to the likes of Vinicius. A steady performance.

Moussa Sissoko – 6 – Wanted to see him impose himself on the game a little more, such was the quality of the opposition. Needed more driving runs and positive passing.

Harry Winks – 8 – A nice performance from Winks. Given time on the ball, he was able to find cutting passes down the centre of the pitch. Very positive showing from him.

Erik Lamela – 9.5 – Tottenham’s main ball carrier in that midfield, Lamela consistently picked it up from deep positions and hauled Spurs up the pitch. Very nice footwork. If not for Dele’s goal and assist, definitely the man of the match.

Dele Alli – 10 – Obviously, that bicycle kick was the standout moment. However, Dele’s general work rate and quality of passing was also nice to watch this evening. His assists for Vinicius and Bale’s goals were also superb.

Steven Bergwijn – 6 – Lots of attacking intent without the end product. Bergwijn looks short of confidence in the final third and that elusive goal just won’t come!

Carlos Vinicius – 8 – He slowed down a number of promising attacks, failed to simply square it to Dele for 2-0 and didn’t look too dangerous in the first 45. However, in the second half, he did finally grab two well-finished goals.

Substitutes:

Gareth Bale – 7 – Came on and kept his hot form going with an incredible whipped finish into the top corner within minutes.

Lucas Moura – 6 – Came on to add some extra energy and pressed well.

Marcel Lavinier – 6.5 – A nervy first moment on the ball but looked really bright after that.

Dane Scarlett – 7 – Came on and immediately pressed high up the pitch, stole the ball and assisted Vinicius for his second goal.

Nile John – 6 – Looked nice and assured on the ball during his cameo.
