Opinion: Tottenham player ratings from the win over Southampton in the FA Cup

Tottenham Hotspur are through to the next round of the FA Cup where they will play Norwich City at home.

The Lilywhites came from 2-1 down after a woeful performance to score two in a last ten-minute flurry. Not sure how they did it, but Spurs are in the fifth round.

Let’s take a look at how the players got on:

Hugo Lloris – 3 – He did claim the ball nicely a few times but Lloris looked a real mess tonight. Parrying it out when he should be catching the ball and staying on his line when he should have come out.

Serge Aurier – 6 – Aurier did okay tonight. Perhaps not as many crosses in the box as you would like, but he always offered something on the right.

Japhet Tanganga – 6.5 – Tottenham’s best defender and he would have scored far higher if not for the mistake in Ings’ goal, letting the striker cut in.

Toby Alderweireld – 6 – Some nice moments in the air and cutting passes out, but not sure what he was doing in the build-up to Shane Long’s goal.

Jan Vertonghen – 4 – Does not look up to the pace of the game anymore. Sad, but true.

Ryan Sessegnon – 5 – Didn’toffer anything going forward and looks shaky at times in defence. Still young and learning.

Eric Dier – 5.5 – By no means his worst performance, but Dier just doesn’t seem to influence the game enough either defensively or offensively. Squad player at best.

Harry Winks – 6.5 – Looked knackered from the Man City game after that huge shift but still showed the odd nice breakaway.

Tanguy Ndombele – 5 – Started so well before looking as though he lost his pace, fitness, and interest. Needs to knuckle down, get fit, and show more hunger.

Lucas Moura – 7 – Tottenham’s best player going forward. Selfish at times, but showed a real spark in the Saints half.

Heung Min Son – 6.5 – The penalty gets him an extra mark. Selfish like Moura but without the same impact going forward.

Substitutes:

Gedson Fernandes – 6 – Came on and showed some nice interplay. Needs game time.

Dele Alli – 7.0 – Played the nice ball that earned Tottenham the penalty. Enough to bump him up a mark or two.

Davinson Sanchez – N/A
