Opinion: Tottenham’s best combined XI from the last decade as 2020 approaches

Tottenham Hotspur have had some incredible players in recent years, and as the decade draws to a close, we wanted to take a look at our 2010-2019 XI.

We will also name a bench and a manager for our team, because picking just eleven players is way too difficult!

In goal, we have gone for Hugo Lloris, a standout choice as one of the best keepers Spurs have had in their entire history, let alone this decade.

I have decided to drop the fullbacks to go for a back three of Jan Vertonghen, Ledley King, and Toby Alderweireld, just about as solid as you can get.

To offer them some extra protection, I have gone for Scott Parker in the pivot role, a player I think was criminally underrated for Tottenham.

Mousa Dembele and Luka Modric make up one of the most technically gifted central midfield partnerships in the history of the game, with Rafa Van der Vaart just ahead of them. Christian Eriksen and Gareth Bale offer support on either side of Harry Kane.

Bench:

Brad Friedel

Danny Rose

Robbie Keane

Michael Dawson

Heung Min Son

Jermaine Defoe

Dimitar Berbatov

Manager:

Mauricio Pochettino
