Opinion: Why Luis Campos would be better than Fabio Paratici for Spurs

Luis Campos is one of the most wanted men in world football and is one of the best Sporting Directors in the recent history of the game

Over the years, Campos has unearthed some of Europe’s most exciting talents. He has consistently brought in relatively unknown names and has then seen them turn into world-class talents, selling them on at world-class prices.

Luis Campos, alongside a top-class manager, are the two most important ‘signings’ that Tottenham need to make this summer.

One of the biggest problems Spurs have faced over recent years is their recruitment. The Gareth Bale money was invested so poorly that he ended up replacing himself seven years after he first departed to Madrid. That really sums things up.

Steve Hitchen is currently Technical Performance Director at Tottenham after being promoted from the club’s chief scout.

In my opinion, he is one of the main reasons the club find themselves in such a dire position. Let’s be honest, his track record of signing good players at good prices in the past few years has been woeful.

Consistently we have passed on players such as Fernandes and Dias and brought in the second/third best options like Lo Celso and Rodon.

With the addition of Campos to a Poch or Conte, Tottenham could be on the right track to get a full scale rebuild going.

Campos has one of the most unbelievable lists when it comes to signings, with him really proving his abilities at Monaco and most recently Lille.

A few examples of players that have been signed after recommendations from Campos are Mbappe, Bernardo Silva, Fabinho, Martial, Osimhen and Pepe (Football London).

All of these players were scouted by Campos in the early stages of their career and went on to be sold for huge markups on their original values.

We have struggled for years to intercept players early in their career and develop them ourselves, it seems as though all of the pieces could fall into place this summer.

However, with a current combination of Levy and Hitchen, I remain apprehensive about the transfer window ahead. If by some miracle we can convince Conte to join then I will be willing to admit the club is going the right way about putting Spurs back together.

The alternative option, who has been linked extensively with Tottenham, is former Sporting Director at Juventus, Fabio Paratici.

The benefit of Paratici obviously would be his relationship with Conte were we to bring him in, however, after doing thorough research on Campos he would be my number one priority after the addition of a manager… if we ever appoint one that is.
