Opinion: Why the unlikely replacement for Eriksen is already at Spurs

At the start of this season, Spurs have looked devoid of any creativity, with the majority of the team performing way below their usual standard.

Christian Eriksen has been the chief playmaker since joining Spurs from Ajax, but it looks as if his time in North London may be coming to an end.

That being said, Spurs perhaps had their best and most creative display last night in the Champions League, a game in which Eriksen did not even feature.

The lack of creativity is a big frustration amongst many Spurs fans, however, I believe that Harry Kane is the answer to the club’s creative problems and I think he should be played in a ‘number 10 position’.

Kane is an excellent passer of the ball, can thread a pass and is able to score goals from outside the box. In recent games, Kane has cut a very frustrated figure as he has not been involved in the action due to a lack of service. He has been forced to drop back in order to get involved and this leaves the team without a focal point up front.

This does create some problems. Alli and Lo Celso would not be able to play in their favoured positions and who would play up top?

Firstly, Alli has been in mixed form at best and Lo Celso is unlikely to hit the ground running. I would also start Son up front as he has pace and can also finish.

This is a time when the needs of the team must be put before any individuals and I think this would be the best way for us to get back to playing the Spurs way.
