Opinion: Why this last-minute transfer deal would be a twofold disaster for Spurs

There are worrying reports circulating in the press today regarding Tottenham’s immediate and future transfer plans.

The Express claim that Christian Eriksen may be a late option for Juventus this summer before the window slams shut tomorrow.

However, the Italian giants are said to only be interested in the Great Dane if they lose Paulo Dybala to PSG in that time.

Not only would this see Spurs lose their chief playmaker, but it would also see them lose their potential long-term replacement.

Tottenham had a bid accepted for Dybala back before the Premier League window shut, but were unable to get the deal across the line in time (Sky Sports).

A move to PSG would end Spurs’ pursuit of the Argentine forward, leaving them needing a new replacement for Eriksen.

Spurs Web Opinion:

Eriksen will not be leaving in the next day or two. I also can’t see Dybala making a late move due to the third-party image rights issue. Therefore, the ideal scenario for Spurs would be to get Eriksen to commit to a new deal, while contacting Juventus to get a Dybala January deal moving now.
