Opinion: Will Mourinho appointment change mind of contract rebels?

Now that Pochettino has been “relieved of his duties” as manager, will the appointment of Jose Mourinho change the mindset of Tottenham’s contract rebels?

What does the Special One mean for the futures of Eriksen, Vertonghen, Alderweireld and Rose?

Does Levy think that Mourinho is a big enough name to keep those players at the club and, more importantly, improve their performances?

The players know that Jose is a manager who is very likely to deliver a trophy, which would be a major positive considering the ages of some of the players. However, Mourinho brings a style of football that may not be favoured by the more technical and attacking stars.

Personally, I think that it may be enough to keep Toby and Jan for an extra couple of seasons, as they feel they will probably get a trophy to sign off their Tottenham careers.

However, I don’t feel that it will be enough for Eriksen or Rose. Both have been great players for the club, despite this season, and they both want to try pastures new.

Having said that, if Mourinho gets them all performing to their utmost again it would be great to keep all four at the club!
