Opposition Fans Opinion-Apoel Nicosia

  • Spurs-web wanted to find out the views of our opposing fans ahead of our clash against Apoel tonight in Nicosia.

Constantinos Nicolau from the Apoel Nicosia Fans Facebook page spoke exclusively to Spursweb ahead of our clash, explaining about their team and their expectations for Tuesdays Champions League clash.

“Despite the fact that we are the biggest team in Cyprus having won the 5 past championships and 26 in total, we know that in Europe we cannot be expecting anything big”

“Our goal was to qualify for the Champions League group stages something that we have achieved. We hoped for an easier draw, so we would have the opportunity to fight some matches and maybe win some points but unfortunately we weren’t lucky enough with the draw”

Constantios went on to say; “Now for the Tottenham match, even though we believe in our team and we will be there to support it until the final minute, we know that it will be extremely difficult for us to salvage a point”

“I think it is one of those matches that in order for us to get at least a point then Tottenham will probably need to miss something like 25 chances, and for us to score in the 2-3 chances that we will find in the game”

“Realistically it is extremely difficult for something like that to occur, but in football anything is possible. Other than that if we are going to lose then we expect from our players to perform at the maximum of their powers and suffer an honourable defeat”

“So overall hopefully we are optimistic that with a bit of luck we can get a draw or at least lose honourably and with the heads held high. The one thing that I am pretty sure will impress you will definitely be us, the fans as I don’t really believe you have ever faced such an atmosphere before. Trust me we will be making a lot of noise. Most of the stands are already sold out and by Tuesday we should be expecting something close to 18 thousand people”
