‘Optimistic’ – Olympiakos owner reacts to drawing Spurs in the Champions League

The Champions League group stage draw is done and dusted for yet another year, and Spurs now know exactly who they will be playing in Europe.

The Lilywhites went into the draw in pot two and were drawn against top seeds Bayern Munich, as well as Olympiakos from pot three and Red Star Belgrade from pot four.

Bayern Munich have won the Champions League and Tottenham made the final only last year, so you would forgive the other two teams for being a little daunted.

However, Olympiakos owner, Evangelos Marinakis, claims that he is optimistic about his club’s chances in the group, despite the quality on show.

Perhaps Tottenham’s troubles in the group stage against Inter Milan and PSV will give the Greek side hope for the coming season.

Tottenham will surely be aiming to challenge Bayern Munich for the top spot in the group in order to secure a favourable knockout draw.

Marinakis said (Olympiakos Site): “Bayern is a really top team, like Tottenham and our Serbian brothers.

“We believe in our strengths, we are strong and particularly optimistic.”
