Ossie Ardiles claims Mauricio Pochettino ‘knows exactly what he wants to do’

Tottenham legend Ossie Ardiles has admitted that he expects Mauricio Pochettino to be back in work shortly and claimed that the former Spurs manager has a clear idea of what kind of club he wants to go to.

If reports over recent months are to be believed Pochettino is still at the top of Manchester United’s wishlist as a potential replacement for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer (Manchester Evening News).

However, it has been indicated recently that the Old Trafford hierarchy have given Solskjaer their vote of confidence and are not planning on parting ways with him anytime soon (Manchester Evening News).

Pochettino has also been linked with a move to Paris Saint-Germain (Express) but former Tottenham defender Jan Vertonghen recently revealed in a telling interview that he believes his ex-boss’ next job is likely to be in the Premier League (CBS Soccer’s Que Golazo podcast).

Ardiles did not give too much away on regarding the clubs that the 48-year-old has his eye on but he did reveal that his compatriot had rejected multiple offers already.

He told the Evening Standard: “He (Pochettino) has had a few offers, but for one reason or another it’s not happened.

“He’s just waiting and he’s in a very good position, he can more or less choose where to go.

“He knows exactly what he wants to do. Football is his life, so he’s been watching everything and he likes to talk about football.

“He’ll take his time and, before long, he’ll be working again.”

Spurs Web Opinion

We know that Pochettino is a football-romantic who sees more value in a project that involves rebuilding/changing a club’s culture rather than just winning. That is why I am convinced that he is unlikely to take over at PSG or Manchester City.

I have always believe that the idea of returning Manchester United to their former glory is something that appeals to the 48-year-old. While I would obviously prefer to see him go abroad, the Old Trafford hot seat is the one he seems to be patiently waiting on.
