Ossie: Luka is key to gatecrash top four

Former Tottenham player and manager Ossie Ardiles believes that Luka Modric is the key to help the club break into the top four.

Ardiles feels that the Croatian’s style of play fits perfectly into the traditions of the White Hart Lane outfit.

‘I was very impressed with Modric once he adjusted to life in England,’ said Ardiles.

‘I think he is a typical Tottenham player. He has good feet, he uses the ball well and he brings others into play.

‘He is in the Spurs mould and I believe the mantle previously held by Glenn Hoddle, Paul Gascoigne and David Ginola has been passed to Luka.

‘If Harry builds the team around Modric, who will only get better this season, then Spurs will be right up there challenging for a top four place.’

‘If Jonathan Woodgate and Ledley King both stay fit then Tottenham can look forward to a good year,’ he added.

‘They boasted a fantastic home record last season and let in just ten goals, which was a record for them in the league. If they can repeat that away from home on a fairly consistent basis they will be very hard to beat.’
