‘Our GOAT is using us’ – Some Spurs fans react to Gareth Bale comments

Some Tottenham fans on social media are frustrated with Gareth Bale after he revealed while on international duty with Wales that his main reason for returning to North London was to be physicality fit for the Euros in the summer.

Bale’s fairytale return to Tottenham certainly did not get off to the best of starts but over the last few months, the 31-year-old has shown signs of nearing full fitness and has demonstrated that he still possesses plenty of quality.

There have been contradictory claims being made in the British press about Bale’s future, with some reports suggesting that Spurs have first refusal on re-singing the winger on loan next season.

However, others have suggested that the North Londoners would have to re-negotiate a new deal with Real Madrid.

Bale himself has now admitted to The Evening Standard that he plans to return to Real Madrid after completing his loan spell at Spurs.

Some Spurs fans were offended by Bale’s statement about the Euros and insisted that the 31-year-old had merely used Tottenham to get himself into shape.

Spurs Web Opinion

I think some fans are reading too much into Bale’s statement about potentially returning to Madrid. The winger was just stating a fact as it remains to be seen if Spurs would want to re-sign him for next season.

As for his comment about wanting to get match fit for the Euros, Bale has always admitted that it was one of the main motivations for him to come to Spurs seeking more game time.

However, I do wonder if one of the reasons Mourinho has been reluctant to use him at times this season is because of the fact that he knows Bale’s ultimate aim is to be at 100 per cent for the Euros, and so the Spurs boss could not rely on the Welshman to give his all, as he can with the likes of Bergwijn and Lucas.
