‘Out of shape and withdrawn’ – Report claims reason behind Spurs man’s struggles last season

According to Football Insider sources, Jack Clarke reportedly turned up at Leeds United out of shape and lacking in motivation.

After some promising displays for Leeds during the 2018/19 season, the youngster was snapped up by Spurs in a £10m deal in the summer of 2019 and subsequently loaned back to the Elland Road outfit.

However, the teenager failed to get any significant game time at Leeds and after his spell was cut short, he also found it difficult to break into QPR’s team after being loaned to Mark Warburton’s side in the second half of last season.

Football Insider claim that the winger turned up at Leeds out of shape and was much more withdrawn than he was during the previous season.

A source from inside the Yorkshire club suggests that his attitude and fitness were the main reasons Marcelo Bielsa did not give him opportunities since the Argentinian demands very high standards from his players.

However, Clarke seems to have bounced back from the disappointing season he had last time out.

Spurs reportedly turned down loan offers from the more than one Championship club for Clarke this season after the 19-year-old impressed Jose Mourinho in training (Football.London).

He was handed his first-team debut in the 3-0 win over LASK last week and will be hoping to get another appearance under his belt when the Lilywhites take on Royal Antwerp this evening.
