Owen Hargreaves reveals which club ‘should be able to get the job done’ in race for fourth

Former Manchester United midfielder Owen Hargreaves believes that Tottenham Hotspur remain favourites to finish in fourth place in the Premier League table.

The north Londoners had shown a marked improvement in form in recent weeks which had seen the front trio of Heung-min Son, Harry Kane and Dejan Kulusevski linking up to fire the club to become the highest scoring Premier League team in 2022.

Having put Everton, Newcastle United and Aston Villa to the sword in recent outings, Antonio Conte’s side failed to threaten Brighton on Saturday.

Tottenham’s inability to break through the lines ended up costing them dearly when Leandro Trossard stabbed home an effort in the 90th minute to secure a 1-0 win for the Seagulls.

Hargreaves told Premier League Productions (16/4/22 – 15:00): ‘Fixture-wise, it’s tough for Arsenal. They struggled against Crystal Palace, Brighton and Southampton.

‘They’ve got Chelsea, Man United, West Ham, Leeds and Tottenham coming up. Looking at Arsenal’s fixtures I’m saying no.

‘I know they’re close but if you’re losing and not scoring against Palace, Brighton and Southampton, you’re going to struggle. It’s made it really difficult for them.

‘Tottenham are still in the driving seat because they’re ahead. Arsenal have that game in hand but I think Arsenal will fall short with the fixtures they’ve got.

‘Manchester United are just too inconsistent. Tottenham should be able to get the job done.’

Tottenham’s run in ‘on paper’ is certainly not favourable given many would have expected them to have beaten Brighton on Saturday. With the futures of Harry Kane and Antonio Conte rumoured to be linked to whether we can secure Champions League football, they all need to step up and take accountability to get us over the line.
