‘Pains me to say’- Arsenal legend makes admission about Tottenham masterclass

Arsenal legend, Lee Dixon has praised the way in which Tottenham have approached matches this season, even referring to their performance against his old side as a ‘masterclass’.

A few weeks ago, some pundits doubted whether Spurs would be able to keep up their good run of form amidst some difficult fixtures.

However, Jose Mourinho’s men have well and truly answered their critics by winning seven points from an available nine against Manchester City, Chelsea and Arsenal.

Even more impressively, Spurs kept clean sheets in all three matches and have now conceded just once in their last six league games.

The 2-0 win against Arsenal last Sunday was particularly impressive as the home side never really looked in danger of being breached at the back despite conceding possession and territorial advantage to the Gunners.

Dixon admitted that he was furious at seeing Mikel Arteta’s side play into Tottenham’s hands by setting up the way they did in the North London Derby.

The former Arsenal defender told the Handbrake off Podcast: “What really got to me the other night watching the game was a real, we know we’re playing Tottenham, but there was a real lack of understanding of the team we’re playing against.

“We all know how Tottenham play, we all know what to expect of them. We’ve all seen them in the past two or three weeks, it pains me to say, sort of you know, a masterclass in ‘this is the team we’re playing against, this is how we’re going to play, our best Mourinho opportunity to get a result is to play like this’.”

“They play like that and then win the game or draw and seven points from the last three games from their point of view ticks all the boxes.”
