Tottenham Hotspur will be without Wilson Palacios for the trip to Portsmouth on the weekend.

The midfielder has been ordered to remain in Honduras to celebrate after he helped the country to qualify for their first World Cup since 1982.

The country’s ruling military junta have been made to attend to a celebration party in the Honduran capital Tegucigalpa.

Spurs boss Harry Redknapp said: “We’ve got no choice but to go to Portsmouth without Wilson.

“There’s nothing he can do either. I guess when the President tells you to do something, you can’t do much about it.”

  1. What a joke. Does anybody even know who is in power in Honduras? The President was ousted, the interim govt isn’t officially recognized. I heard they have named a national holiday today and no one is working, good for them but Wilson has his obligations to the club.

  2. Is this for real or have these lot just copied what the Mirror have stated? If so never mind we need to win without wilson once in a while!

  3. honduras´ fascist, corrupt dictator roberto micheletti invited the national team players over to the presidential palace for lunch in their honor for their victory in neighboring el salvador. however, some of the players -including amado “lobo” guevara, a national icon whose mother is one of the thousands of oposition militants who have been savagely beaten by the military and the police- gave micheletti the finger and rejected the asshole’s invitation
