Paolo Di Canio warns the likes of Tottenham against signing ‘cry baby’

West Ham United legend Paolo Di Canio has warned the likes of Spurs against signing Juventus forward Paulo Dybala.

Dybala’s current contract with Juventus runs out in the summer and the Serie A club’s CEO Maurizio Arrivabene admitted the midfielder’s time at Turin will come to an end this season (TuttoMercatoWeb).

The forward has been linked with a move to Spurs for the past few months (Sport) and 90 min reported this week that the Argentine’s agent is in contact with Tottenham ahead of a potential summer transfer.

However, some sources in Italy have suggested whether or not Antonio Conte’s men qualify for the Champions League could have a bearing on their pursuit of the Juve star (Gazzetta dello Sport).

Di Canio has now warned clubs against a potential move for Dybala, insisting that the 28-year-old is ’emotionally fragile’ and not the sort of character who would stand up during tough times.

The former Hammers man told Corriere dello Sport about Dybala: “It’s true that he could become a technical leader, but I cannot have an emotionally fragile one.

“If things go well, he turns up in games, but if things go wrong, I define him almost as a big cry baby.”

Di Canio is certainly not a stranger to eccentric takes and reactionary statements. So, one should not put too much weight on his words. However, it is clear that a player’s personality and attitude are crucial factors for Conte in deciding potential transfer targets.
