Tottenham have been linked with a move for Paraguayan forward Oscar Cardozo.
Cardozo has been at Benfica since 2007 having joined from Newell’s Old Boys in Argentina, and has an impressive strike-rate of 50 goals in just 87 appearances.
He could be the player earmarked to replace Roman Pavlyuchenko, if the Russian decides to move away from White Hart Lane in January.
Reports in Portugal suggest that Blackburn and Newcastle could also be interested in the Benfica forward, though a suggested £20 million fee, double what Benfica paid for him, may quell anything concrete from them.
Redknapp will check up on Cardozo as Benfica visit Everton on Thursday, but is thought to be wary of spending such a large sum of money on yet another striker.

We need a fit centre half and learn to make better use of our talented squad why pat twenty million for a bench warmer VIDUCA could do it for newt.COYS
Davspurs: I don’t think we need another centre-half. We’re going to have 4 top-class centre halves to keep happy soon…
Quality target man who’s more mobile than Crouch and strikes the ball incredibly well. 20m is silly though. I’d rather keep Pav or if Arry is desperate to offload him I’d take a serious look at Adriano despite his history.
For me CM is more of a priority. Sandro has been touted but Moussa Sissoko is the dog’s B. Brilliant player…like a young Mike Essien. Would rather spend 20m on him than another forward.
quite impressive against everton, make that 52 in 88 appearances.
if pav do go, try buy him.
