Paratici confirms names of four managers Spurs actually held talks with

In an interview with Gianluca Di Marzio on Sky Sports Italia, Tottenham’s new managing director of football, Fabio Paratici confirmed the names of four managers the club held talks with since his arrival.

With modern-day football and the subsequent media coverage, you can never be one hundred per cent sure which stories and rumours are true and which are wide of the mark.

However, it seems that Tottenham’s new man is not shy of an interview, as he revealed that before Spurs held talks with Nuno Espirito Santo, their eventual hire, they also contacted Antonio Conte, Gennaro Gattuso, and Paulo Fonseca.

The Italian did not comment on any other managers, despite there being links to Mauricio Pochettino and a possible North London return around the same time as the Conte talks.

However, Paratici did claim that Spurs contacted ‘many’ managers and perhaps he was only speaking about the talks held after his own appointment.

He said (Sky Sports Italia 04/07/21 at 22:00 onwards as relayed by Fabrizio Romano): “We’ve had talks with many managers. Antonio Conte is one of the managers we contacted, Gattuso and Fonseca too… then we decided to appoint Nuno Espirito Santo. He did an amazing job at Wolves.”

Spurs Web Opinion:

I’m sure that Levy contacted many before Paratici joined and I’m sure that there were other names left out by the Italian out of respect for the current clubs the managers are at, such as Pochettino and PSG.
