Paratici insists Spurs are on course to achieving their objectives this season

Fabio Paratici has claimed that Tottenham have done well in the first part of the 2022-23 season and still have it all to play for this campaign.

There has been a lot of discontent among the Spurs fan base over recent weeks, with the Lilywhites having won just two of their five Premier League games since the restart.

There were even some suggestions a couple of weeks ago that Antonio Conte’s future at the club was looking increasingly uncertain (Daily Mail) but back-to-back wins over Fulham and Preston recently have taken some of the pressure off the Italian for the time being.

The recent arrivals of Pedro Porro and Arnaut Danjuma have also provided some optimism for Spurs fans, and they will be hoping that the pair have a similar impact to Dejan Kulusevski and Rodrigo Bentancur when they arrived at the club last January.

Paratici has now reminded people that it’s what happens at the business end of the season that counts and insisted that everyone at Spurs is positive about what can be achieved over the coming months.

Tottenham’s managing director of football told the club’s official website: “Every season is divided into two parts in my opinion. One part of the season lasts until March when the European competitions restart. And the second part is from March and after.

“Every big club needs to have the target to arrive in March and be in every competition. So, be fighting in the Premier League, Champions League or the European competition that you are playing, and the FA Cup.

“So here we are – we play the fifth round of the FA Cup, we play in the Champions League, we are fifth in the Premier League, we are fighting for a Champions League spot and so we did well in the first part of the season.

“I repeat, I think this has to be the target for every big team. Now we are starting the most exciting period of the season so we play big games, we just have to be positive and we are looking forward. Just be happy, be positive and be all together to support the team, to push the team, and we will see.”

While things have perhaps not been as rosy as Paratici suggests, there has definitely been an overreaction from some Spurs fans over recent weeks. We sit just three points behind fourth place and are still in the Champions League and FA Cup, which is not a crisis situation.
