Fabio Paratici has claimed that he and Antonio Conte have not yet spoken about possible January transfers or a budget as they first need to concentrate on the players they already have.
While there have been many headlines about possible war chests and incoming players, Conte will not be able to think about strengthening his squad for another two months or so.
Paratici was keen to point out that Tottenham already have a competitive and talented group of players for Conte to work with.
Spurs have struggled both domestically and in Europe so far this season, sitting in eighth in the Premier League and recording just one win from three in the Europa Conference League.
The Sun reported following Conte’s arrival in North London that he would be handed a £150m war chest to spend on new players by Paratici and Daniel Levy. However, there was no mention of that or any budget at all in the press conference today.
On if he has spoken to Conte about transfers, Paratici said (Football London): “Not at all. We trust in our players. We are focused to be better and like a team.”
Asked whether there is a transfer budget for January, he added: “We don’t speak about players until now. We have to be focused on our team. I think the team is competitive. We have very good players so we don’t speak about players now. Not the right time.”

Spurs Web Opinion:
The stories of a £150m war chest will be far from the mark. I am sure that Spurs will attempt to raise money through player sales and part exchanges during January, as well as giving Conte some extra cash to spend. He wouldn’t be here without assurances.
