‘Pathetic display’ – Some Spurs fans react to first half performance against Chelsea

It has been a lacklustre first half performance by Tottenham Hotspur as they trail Chelsea 2-0 at half time. Jose Mourinho kept faith with the same line up that secured all three points away at Wolves last weekend.

However, the team has failed to get going in the first forty-five minutes and haven’t imposed themselves on the game. The visitors have won the midfield battle so far and have looked quite threatening going forward.

Willian gave Frank Lampard’s side a deserved lead in the 12th minute with a well taken finish into the far corner. The Brazilian then stepped up from the penalty spot to put the Blues 2-0 up after Paulo Gazzaniga was adjudged to have made a foul inside the penalty box.

Some Spurs fans on social media were extremely disappointing with the team’s first half showing, with a few even insisting that Mourinho has to make some changes at half time.

The second goal towards the end of the half was a real sucker punch that is going to be quite hard to recover from. We need an early goal in the second half to have any chance. Mourinho needs to bring one of Ndombele or Winks on at half time as Chelsea are enjoying too much control in the midfield area.
