Patrick Bamford reveals what Dele told him after Spurs beat Leeds

Leeds United striker Patrick Bamford has revealed that Dele Alli told him after Tottenham’s 3-0 win over Marcelo Bielsa’s side last weekend that he hopes to be involved in the FA Cup clash against Marine.

Tottenham begin their FA Cup campaign with a third-round clash against the eighth-tier side tomorrow afternoon.

Jose Mourinho could be set to ring the changes for what should be a relatively straightforward game for his side but the Spurs boss has said that he will name a strong team.

Alli has been on the fringes of the squad so far this season, with most of his game time coming in the Europa League.

The midfielder’s last appearance came in Tottenham’s 3-1 win over Stoke City in the Carabao Cup quarter final last month but the England international was publicly criticised by Mourinho for his performance in that match after he gave the ball away for their equaliser.

Reports continue to link Alli with a potential reunion with Mauricio Pochettino at Paris Saint-Germain but Bamford has revealed that the 24-year-old is keen to take to the field this weekend.

Speaking to the Official Leeds United Podcast the striker said: “I don’t know if I’ll play this weekend, but it is a cup that as Jermaine said it’s got a lot of history, I feel like.

“I was speaking to Dele after the game, after the Spurs game and he was saying hopefully he’ll play this weekend, so they’re playing against Marine FC or something, I don’t know what league they’re in.”

Spurs Web Opinion

I expect many of our key stars to be rested for Sunday’s clash. So, I believe Alli will start the game. If reports of an impending loan move to PSG are true, this might well be the last time we see the midfielder in a Tottenham shirt this season.
