Paul Gascoigne sends a message to Eriksen amidst transfer uncertainty

Tottenham Hotspur fans still don’t know whether Christian Eriksen will be at the club come the end of the transfer window.

The Danish midfielder told the media that he was looking for a new challenge and a step up for this season back in June, but he still remains at the club (Ekstra Bladet).

Eriksen has also featured in all three matches for Tottenham this season, twice off the bench and once from the start against Man City.

The European transfer window doesn’t shut until September 2, meaning Spurs have to hang onto the player for a few days, then talk may turn towards convincing him to sign a new deal.

Talking of naturally talented and creative midfield threats, Paul Gascoigne has been speaking about Eriksen this week.

Gazza played for Spurs across three seasons, scoring 33 goals in the process in over 100 matches (Wikipedia).

He believes that Eriksen should stay at Spurs due to the incredible facilities at the club (Football London): “He (Eriksen) is important to the squad and Spurs have got to keep players like him. But it’s not a game anymore, though, it’s a business. Player power and money talks.

“If I were a player now I would want to stay at Tottenham Hotspur. I have seen the facilities and the players that they have got. They have some potentially world-class players. I think it’s a great club to stay at.

“They have a great manager as well. I would have loved to play for Pochettino. It’s just the way he is. He seems calm and is a guy you would want to play for. He’s always encouraging people.”
