Arsenal legend vows to get a Tottenham tattoo if his rivals beat Manchester City

Former Arsenal midfielder Paul Merson has joked that he will get a Tottenham Hotspur tattoo if they beat Manchester City tomorrow evening.

Spurs host Manchester City at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in a pivotal match which could decide the course of the Premier League title.

City have a game in hand over Arsenal’s north London rivals Spurs and should Pep Guardiola’s side win the game, they will hold a two-point lead over the Gunners with one round of Premier League fixtures left.

Arsenal and City face Everton and West Ham United at home respectively on the final day of the season on Sunday, while all eyes are on what happens in N17 before then.

Paul Merson makes Tottenham tattoo promise

Merson is confident that City will get the result they need over Tottenham to such an extent that he insisted he will get a tattoo of his bitter rivals if they cause an upset.

Speaking on Sky Sports, he said: “If you’re relying on Tottenham to win a football match or draw a football match… yeah… no.

“If they win that, I’ll have a Tottenham tattoo, I will,” he added.

When asked where he’d have it, he laughed and said: “Where you can’t see it!”

The vast majority of Tottenham fans will certainly not want Arsenal to win the Premier League title even if it means losing a match.

Should Aston Villa win their fixture against Liverpool this evening it would put a fourth-place finish and Champions League qualification out of the reach of Tottenham, making tomorrow’s game even less relevant.
