Paul Merson makes confident score prediction for Forest vs Tottenham

Arsenal legend Paul Merson expects Tottenham Hotspur to wreak havoc against Nottingham Forest in their Premier League fixture tomorrow afternoon.

Tottenham will be on the road this weekend as they travel to City Ground to take on Steve Cooper’s side. Spurs come into the game on the back of a hard-fought 1-0 victory over Wolverhampton Wanderers in their previous match.

Antonio Conte‘s team is currently holding joint third place in the league table alongside Leeds United. Both of them have seven points from three matches and are also tied in terms of the goals scored and conceded.

Forest, on the other hand, recently won their Carabao Cup tie against Grimsby 3-0, but were held to a 1-1 draw by Everton in their last league clash.

The newly promoted side has been extremely active in the market so far, having backed Cooper with a vast array of signings this summer.

Merson has predicted that the North London team will have it easy against the Reds and run away 3-0 winners. The former England international suggested that Tottenham may find it tricky in the opening phase of the game but will go on to dominate the match.

Writing in his Sportskeeda column, Merson said: “Tottenham need to get through the first 20 minutes unscathed this weekend.

“If Forest score first, the home crowd will be raucous. That’ll put a bit of air in the home side’s lungs, and they might be able to ride their luck along the way.”

“The longer this Premier League game goes on, the better it will be for Tottenham. They will open Nottingham Forest up, and there’s a sense of ruthlessness about them.

“They were poor against Wolves, but they worked hard and turned it around in the end. Tottenham should be able to secure a comfortable victory this weekend.”

Prediction: Forest 0-3 Tottenham

Spurs Web Opinion:

Spurs have dug in to get favourable results against Chelsea and Wolves despite not being at their best on the day. As such, anything short of three points would be disappointing against a newly promoted outfit, especially when they lack cohesion in their ranks.

Despite that, Forest cannot be taken lightly, as they have shown by beating West Ham United 1-0 this campaign. They are inconsistent with their performances, but even on their best day, Tottenham are expected to get the better of them.
