Paul Merson makes prediction about Spurs and Arsenal

Tottenham Hotspur have had a tough time of it over the past two weeks, losing three out of four Premier League games.

Spurs actually had the chance to close the gap between themselves and the leaders to just two points when they came up against Burnley, but failed to get the job done.

Defeats to Burnley, Chelsea, and Southampton, as well as a scraped 1-1 draw against Arsenal in the North London Derby saw Spurs drop 11 out of 12 subsequent points.

Tottenham have gone from title challengers to top four maybes in the space of a fortnight and now face a huge fight to retain their Champions League spot for next season.

It would be a disaster for Spurs to drop back into the Europa League after paying for their new stadium, especially as they were so comfortably clear in third place.

Paul Merson has now predicted that Arsenal will be two points clear of Spurs after the next game week.

He said (SkySports – quoted by HITC): “You look at the next lot of fixtures and you probably expect Arsenal to beat Newcastle, you won’t expect Tottenham to beat Liverpool. So Arsenal will go above them. They’ll go above them in that game and with seven games to go they will be two points clear, which is unbelievable.”
