Paul Merson on who will win between Huddersfield and Spurs

Sky Sports pundit Paul Merson has tipped Tottenham Hotspur to beat Huddersfield Town on Saturday afternoon.

Mauricio Pochettino’s side are looking for their third victory in a row after beating Brighton last weekend and managing to edge past Watford on penalties in the Carabao Cup on Wednesday evening.

Tottenham fans will be expecting to come away from the Kirklees Stadium with all three points if we are to maintain our quest for another top four finish this season.

Former Arsenal midfielder Merson believes that star striker Harry Kane needs more than a midweek rest in order to get back to his best. Kane was left out of the Spurs squad for the victory over Watford at Stadium MK.

It is nearly a year to the day when Spurs last travelled to Huddersfield, that day Kane was unplayable and scored a hat-trick in a 4-0 win, with Ben Davies bagging the other.

Merson told Sky Sports: “I’ve got to go for Tottenham. They aren’t pulling up any trees at the moment but I remember what they did when they went up to Huddersfield last season with Harry Kane. Huddersfield need to come out and have a go but I think Tottenham will beat them quite easily.

“Kane needs more than just a midweek break. I don’t know if he went away on holiday but he needs three or four days to just get away, sit down with his family on the beach or something. That’s a rest. I think a rest over here, training every day and then going home, doing the same old things is not really a rest if I’m honest. He needs to get away and chill.

“Prediction: 0-3”
