Paul Merson predicts where Spurs and Arsenal will finish this season

Paul Merson has predicted that Tottenham Hotspur will finish in the top four this season, along with Arsenal, Manchester City and Liverpool.

Spurs have started the season strongly, picking up 14 points out of a possible 18 so far. Antonio Conte’s men have conceded just five goals in their six matches so far and are the only other unbeaten side in the Premier League apart from Manchester City.

Arsenal have also made a strong start to the season, with the Gunners currently sitting at the top of the table with 15 points.

Chelsea and Liverpool have struggled so far this campaign, with the Blues parting ways with Thomas Tuchel and appointing Graham Potter as their new head coach this week.

After starting the season with two back-to-back losses against Brighton and Brentford, Manchester United are seemingly starting to click into gear under Erik Ten Hag, having won their last four games.

However, Merson remarked that he is still not convinced United can clinch a Champions League spot ahead of Spurs or Arsenal.

The pundit told SportsKeeda: “It’s still early doors, but I think the Premier League top-four this season will be Manchester City, Liverpool, Tottenham Hotspur and Arsenal in whatever order.

“Chelsea will obviously have a thing or two to say, but we’ll have to wait and see how Potter performs at Stamford Bridge, with the Englishman set to take over the reins from Thomas Tuchel imminently.

“As for Manchester United, I don’t think they’ll make it because they still have a lot of work to do in terms of their squad. They’ve won four league games in a row, including victories against Liverpool and Arsenal, but I’m yet to be convinced by them.

“Arsenal are good and I believe they are in there for the long run, while I’m still backing Liverpool to turn it around in the coming weeks to secure a UEFA Champions League spot.”

Spurs Web Opinion

I would not be surprised if the top four spots are more fiercely contested this season than the past few campaigns. I expect Potter to make Chelsea a force again while it looks like the Man Utd players have bought into Ten Hag’s ideas. However, I remain confident that Spurs will finish in the top four.
