Paul Merson predicts whether Tottenham can end bad run at Brighton

Tottenham slumped to their third straight defeat in all competitions against Inter Milan in the Champions League on Tuesday.

Spurs lost the vital game at the San Siro despite leading up until the 85th minute.

This followed 2-1 losses to both Watford and Liverpool in the Premier League, with Spurs also leading the Watford game 1-0 late on.

Spurs have been stuck in some bad form since the start of the season, with their high pressure game wavering, and their build up play sluggish and sloppy.

Many have blamed the drop in form on fatigue after a long season, and a World Cup in the summer. Tottenham had nine players in the semi finals in Russia.

Paul Merson has not tipped Spurs to get back to winning ways away to Brighton on Saturday, but also doesn’t think that they will lose the game.

He said: “I don’t know what’s happened with Tottenham. They played well against Inter Milan and then lost the game – they’ve probably played worse this season and won.

“They are stuck in a rut and need something from this game. I don’t care who you are but you cannot turn that run of form around in an instant, especially when you consider Brighton at home are a completely different prospect.

“Chris Hughton must pull his hair out at the difference between his side’s form at home and away, but they fought back last week when they looked out of the game at Southampton. Spurs have played well in games and still lost, after a while that takes its toll.”

Merse has predicted a 1-1 stalemate for the 5:30 kick off, but what are your score predictions?
