Paul Merson states his prediction for Tottenham’s match against Burnley

Football pundit Paul Merson has given his opinion on whether Tottenham Hotspur will beat Burnley on Saturday.

It’s back to Premier League action for Mauricio Pochettino’s side at Wembley for the visit of the struggling Clarets following the highs of the trip to Barcelona on Tuesday.

Tottenham go into the game only having lost one of their last six matches in the league and nothing less than a win will do is they are to close the gap on Liverpool and Manchester City.

Tottenham have lost two of their last five Premier League home games, as many defeats as they had in their previous 39 at home in the competition (W31 D6 L2).

Sean Dyche’s Burnley have had a taste of reality this season after tasting European football in the last campaign, they find themselves just one place above the relegation zone.

Spurs could welcome back Trippier, Foyth, Sanchez and Aurier.

Merson believes that Spurs will continue their recent impressive form with another win.

He told Sky Sports: Tottenham win this. “They got a great result against Barcelona in midweek and there’s a better feeling around the club after that north London derby defeat.

“I watched Burnley in midweek beat Brighton 1-0; that was the Burnley I know. They made it really difficult, looked hard to beat, and Brighton knew they were in for a really difficult afternoon. That’s the Burnley that got where they were last season.

“They may play like that again at Wembley, but Spurs will have more quality.

“Prediction: 3-1.”
