Roman Pavlyuchenko has revealed that he decided to take a later flight to meet up with the Russian national squad in order to feature in Tottenham’s win against Olympiacos.
The striker scored and set up another in the 3-0 win at White Hart Lane on Sunday. He was due to fly to Russia on Sunday morning ahead of Russia’s friendly against Argentina, but opted for a night flight so he could play for Spurs.
He said: ‘Taking a night flight to arrive in Moscow on the first day of (Russia) training is, of course, very inconvenient.
‘But after talking to Redknapp I realised I must stay with the team and changed tickets.
‘In the end, I played and even scored. Now I will arrive in Moscow in an even better mood.’

Pav and Defoe to start against liverpool!!
Agreed after watching yesterdays performance
Pav to stay he a class act proved it yesterday…
am 50 50 on pav. Many said he needed a well earned rest last season. Well he’s had that now so its make or break for him, hope he succeeds, hes shown glimpses of his class
Hope he’ll play at least as a sub in the 2nd half. Confident he’ll come good this season.
Roman & Defoe are our best strikers by far. Defoe must remember where the goal is and watch the off side trap.
Come on Pav. Show us how good you really are this season
