Roman Pavlyuchenko has revealed that he decided to take a later flight to meet up with the Russian national squad in order to feature in Tottenham’s win against Olympiacos.
The striker scored and set up another in the 3-0 win at White Hart Lane on Sunday. He was due to fly to Russia on Sunday morning ahead of Russia’s friendly against Argentina, but opted for a night flight so he could play for Spurs.
He said: ‘Taking a night flight to arrive in Moscow on the first day of (Russia) training is, of course, very inconvenient.
‘But after talking to Redknapp I realised I must stay with the team and changed tickets.
‘In the end, I played and even scored. Now I will arrive in Moscow in an even better mood.’
