“Pay him what he wants” – Some fans urge Spurs to sort out star’s future

Some Tottenham Hotspur fans decided to message the club’s official Twitter account after Christian Eriksen scored a late winner against Burnley.

Many fans have urged the club to tie the midfielder down to a new and improved contract.

Eriksen has been in discussions over an extension to his £70,000-a-week contract at Spurs since last season, while both Real Madrid and Barcelona are understood to have shown an interest in the past (Standard).

The Dane is 26 years old and coming into his peak years as a footballer, it should be the club’s absolute priority to offer him a contract on the same terms as Harry Kane, who is said to earn around £200,000-a-week.

Eriksen’s influence on a game is evident to see, his ability allows Spurs to play a smoother, clever, more intricate game and he has recently started to score some important goals.

His late goal against Inter Milan kept our Champions League campaign alive and his similar goal against Burnley yesterday could be equally as important come the end of the season.

Here’s a selection of Tweets from the Spurs faithful.
