Pedro Porro answers question on his Sporting future amid Spurs’ interest

Amid the speculation linking him with a move to Tottenham Hotspur, Pedro Porro has insisted that he is fully focused on continuing to do well at Sporting Lisbon.

There have been contradictory reports over the last few days regarding Spurs’ pursuit of Porro since it emerged that earlier this week that Tottenham’s latest offer had been turned down by Sporting (Fabrizio Romano).

El Chiringuito TV claimed on Thursday that Antonio Conte‘s men are not prepared to give up and are set for a fresh round of talks over the 23-year-old.

However, The print edition of A Bola (19/01/23 as relayed by Sport Witness) reported on the same day that Spurs are set to abandon their pursuit of the Spaniard after their latest proposal had been turned down.

The publication claimed that there had been no new contact from Tottenham over recent days and that the Premier League club are not expected to try again for Porro during the current transfer window.

The right wing-back has now chosen to keep his cards close to his chest regarding his future but did state that he is happy in Lisbon.

When asked about his future after he scored a penalty in injury time last night to help Sporting to a 2-1 win over Vizela, Porro told Cabine Desportiva: “I’m not talking about the possibilities on the market – about staying nor about leaving. I’m focused on Sporting and I’m happy here.”

Spurs Web Opinion

This is a non-committal answer from Porro and he might just be looking to keep the Sporting fans onside if the move does not go through. So, we cannot read too much into these comments.

Besides, the stories regarding Tottenham’s pursuit of Porro have been that the player is willing to make the move and has even agreed to personal terms, with the North London club’s only challenge being striking an agreement with Sporting.
