Roberto De Zerbi has shed light on Pedro Porro’s fitness after the right-back missed Tottenham’s 3-1 Carabao Cup loss at Anfield.
Porro returned to pre-season late in the summer, having played a key part in helping Spain win the World Cup for just the second time in their history.
The right-back was not fit at the start of the season, and has started just two of the club’s six games across all competitions so far.
Archie Gray has deputised in the Spaniard’s absence, and while the 20-year-old has shown signs of improvement in that position, the Lilywhites will want Porro back as soon as possible.

Roberto De Zerbi’s one-word response regarding Pedro Porro’s Tottenham return
Tottenham certainly missed the 27-year-old’s passing from the back at Anfield, with Spurs failing to play several through balls when the forwards were looking to get in behind the Reds’ defence.
That is something that Porro’s return to the team will certainly help address, and De Zerbi has now provided some good news about his fitness.
When asked if Porro will be fit to play Aston Villa on the weekend, the Tottenham boss simply responded (via Football.London): “Yes.”
De Zerbi has full faith in the Spurs players to turn results around
While it was another disappointing result for the Lilywhites at Liverpool, there were some major positives, with the away side creating the better chances.
De Zerbi is confident that Tottenham simply have too much quality in their squad not to start winning matches soon.
The Italian said after the loss against Liverpool: “I believe in my players, I have a big confidence, a big opinion of my players, and when we arrive to find the click, to win a game, I think we enjoy with these players, because the qualities of the players are incredible.
“Have a look at Marmoush, Savio, Kudus, Lucas Bergvall, Mateus Fernandes, Robertson, don’t forget Pedro Porro. Solanke, Solanke top, he’s a good player. It’s a tough moment, but we have to be stronger to prepare our best for the next game with Villa and to find this click.”
