Pedro Porro reveals ‘unconditional love’ for Tottenham fans despite controversial comments

Pedro Porro has made some interesting comments about Tottenham fans after the Lilywhites’ 2-0 win over Brentford.

There was huge pressure on the Spurs players heading into Saturday’s clash against Brentford, given their abject home record.

There was a growing disconnect between the fans and the players, with some members of the squad frustrated by the behaviour of the supporters.

That includes Pedro Porro, who was controversially angered by Lucas Bergvall when he went over to applaud the fans following Tottenham’s 2-1 loss to Fulham.

Pedro Porro says Tottenham fans have been ‘exceptional’

After the defeat to the Cottagers, Porro took to social media to defend his behaviour, insisting that he and his Tottenham teammates felt disrespected.

However, the Spaniard has now changed his tune following Tottenham’s 2-0 win over Brentford. He praised Spurs fans for getting behind the team and pushing the team on, admitting that the players need that kind of support.

Porro told InfoBae (as translated by Sport Witness): “They’ve been exceptional from the start of the match, celebrating every attack and every chance. That’s what we need because when the team is struggling, we need that support.

“I understand that emotions in football, as I’ve already mentioned, often lead to the best possible reactions. They know I have unconditional love for them, and that’s the most important thing.”

Spurs fans have responded perfectly to Fulham controversy

The travelling Tottenham fans at St James’ Park sang Guglielmo Vicario’s name throughout the game after the Italian had been booed for his mistake against Fulham.

The home crowd also responded well against the Bees, applauding Porro on multiple occasions when he went over to take the corner kick.

Perhaps this is also a lesson for Frank that the fans at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium will get behind the team if they show some attacking intent.
