Some Tottenham fans were over the moon with Tanguy Ndombele’s performance against Newcastle yesterday, with many hoping it is a sign of things to come from the Frenchman.
Ndombele was not named in the matchday squad by Nuno Espirito Santo for the first few games of the season after the midfielder reportedly informed the club he wanted to leave.
However, since the transfer market closed, the 24-year-old has seemingly knuckled down and started to show his qualities.
The former Lyon man once again started in the number ten role yesterday and he was a constant threat all game for the Newcastle backline, proving to be Tottenham’s main attacking fulcrum.
Apart from getting Tottenham’s equaliser with a brilliant curled finish into the top corner, Ndombele completed 99 total touches with a 92 per cent pass accuracy, completed 4 successful dribbles, won 4 tackles (Statman Dave).
Some Spurs fans were particularly excited by the fact that the midfielder played all 90 minutes without showing too many signs of tiring towards the end of the game.
hes pure class when he wants to be. 87th minute i saw him sprinting to press their back line too. Ndombele SZN is back on lmao

Up the Spurs. Full 90 completed for Ndombele – can’t even remember the last time that happened. Kane showing that people really just need to be quiet sometimes, Never in doubt. #COYS

Managed to have a look back at the game. Kane was magnificent, Ndombele the penny is finally dropping, Both full backs much more of a threat although there’s still work to be done defensively. 4-2-3-1 is unquestionably the way to play at Spurs.

Just imagine if the Ndombele performance yesterday was the start of the penny dropping for him and the confidence boost he needs so he can kick on.. could be a game changer for us.
Rather than the unfit lazy 60 minute player we’ve had so far..

Spurs Web Opinion
Even when Ndombele was playing well in the first half of last season, his fitness still looked like an issue and there was something slightly off with his body language. However, he has looked much happier this season.
Perhaps, his improved form and attitude has something to do with a fact that he realises he has to play well this season to get a big move after failing to attract much interest from Europe’s heavy-hitters over the summer.
