‘People need to look’ – Kieran Trippier comes to defence of Tottenham star’s actions

Kieran Trippier has come to the defence of Harry Kane after he reportedly wanted to leave Tottenham last summer, calling him the most professional player he has played with in his career.

Trippier, who now plies his trade at Newcastle, enjoyed four seasons alongside Kane at Spurs as well as spending time on together on England duty.

Following yet another underwhelming campaign without silverware last time out, Kane allegedly told Tottenham he wanted to move on from North London (Sky Sports).

Manchester City were the prime suitors for Kane’s signature, but a deal failed to materialise which condemned him to a stay in north London for another year (Sky Sports).

On the back of the failed move, the 28-year-old struggled to gain any meaningful form for Spurs in the early stages of the season, but has now seen his performances pick up of late.

Trippier believes the incident will not affect Kane’s attitude down the line and says he is not the type of player to down tools because he simply hasn’t got his way.

He told the True Geordie Podcast: “H, firstly I would say, is the most professional player I have played with.

“It didn’t obviously happen in the summer, but he is one of those who are not going to throw the toys out of the pram.

“People need to look at how he brings Sonny when drops deep and he is playing diagonal passes. He is such as good player.”

Last summer will stick firmly in the mind of everyone at Spurs but Trippier is right in saying he won’t give up because of it. Granted his scoring hasn’t been the same this season, but he has still been the best player in the team which shows he’s not packed up.
