After seeing his Manchester City side drop to the third position in the Premier League table following a defeat away at Leicester City, Pep Guardiola has admitted that both Liverpool and Tottenham have been playing better than his side at the moment.
Tottenham thrashed Bournemouth 5-0 at Wembley just three days after putting 6 past Everton at Goodison Park while City have lost back to back games in that time. This means that the reigning champions sit 1 point below Tottenham and 7 points below Liverpool.
Speaking in the post-match interview to the BBC, the Spaniard said, “Liverpool and Tottenham deserve it, they win games and we don’t, the gap is increased.”
“Last season we had a big gap, this season Liverpool and Tottenham are very good. We have finished the first half of the season, we have enough points to be champions but the other teams make more, they are better than us at the moment”.
The title was considered to be a two horse race between Liverpool and Man City by experts for most of the season but Spurs have now well and truly played themselves into contention with their recent performances that have somewhat gone under the radar.
In fact, looking at the way Tottenham are dismissing teams in ruthless fashion at the moment, Spurs fans will genuinely believe they can push Liverpool all the way till the end.
